Jarosewycz Family Scholarship

Established by CREES donor Peter Jarosewycz, the Jarosewycz Family Scholarship is awarded to students engaged in Russian, East European, and Eurasian Studies (REES) and have strong interests in Ukrainian Studies. KU students are eligible to receive up to $4,000 per year, the payment of which is made in 2 installments (at the beginning of the fall and spring semesters). Alternatively, KU students may receive the Jarosewycz Family Scholarship for 1 semester only (up to $2,000 for that semester). The award is paid directly to KU Student Account Services and is applied towards the tuition of Ukrainian language classes. Any KU student is eligible and all are encouraged to apply. Preference will be given to students pursuing a REES concentration in the Department of Slavic, German and Eurasian Studies. No previous knowledge of a foreign language is required. Incoming Freshmen will be given special priority.

To receive the award, students must:

  • Enroll in Elementary or Intermediate Ukrainian for a full academic year: UKRA 104 & UKRA 108 OR  UKRA 204 & UKRA 208
  • Commit to enrolling in further Ukrainian classes (UKRA 204/208 or more advanced level classes) the year following the award period.
