Minor in REES
Minor in Russian, East European & Eurasian Studies
The countries of Russia, East Central Europe, the Balkans, and Central Asia possess rich and diverse cultures and occupy a crucial place in the world. Through a minor in REES, you can gain interdisciplinary perspectives and prepare for study abroad. A REES minor provides an excellent foundation for careers in international business, charity, government, military service, or advanced degrees in law, information science, or academic disciplines. The minor in REES consists of 18 credit hours including REES 110/111 understanding Russia and Eastern Europe or REES 220/221 Societies and Cultures of Eurasia. At least 12 credit hours must be at the 300 level or above. Up to 3 credit hours of any REES language may be counted towards the minor. No more than one course in the major program may count toward the minor.
The REES minor is a solid complement any BA or BGS major and fosters global awareness through a wide variety of course areas, inlcuding literature, history, politics, geography, and religion. Foreign language is not required, and general education courses may count towards the minor.
